When the electoral college proclaimed the 45th president of the US to be Donald Trump (AKA individual one) I was was throughly shocked and reverted to default mode. For me this means drawing. I drew and drew, and did a little research and drew some more. This is the complete collection of drawings done during that default period. After awhile this activity seemed to not be helping as much as I wanted to help, and my political creative pen was turned elsewhere (see Postcards To Voters).
Voting is important, it’s a key element of our democratic process. A handwritten card can be first contact for a canvassing candidate or a reminder to vote. I handmade some cards and bought some cards to just write. The made cards are here. You can join up at www.postcardstovoters.org
This series of drawings were created for Miraculous Journeys of A Mundane Man written by Steve Strasnick, published by Mystic Dao Publishing 2017. Thanks to Steve for asking me to draw his journey. It is a privilege to walk through someone’s personal world. A traveler cannot help but to emerge changed, perhaps in unexpected ways.
According to Japanese folk myth in the 1800s a strange glowing creature appeared off the coast of Kumamoto, Japan. Mermaid-like with long hair, a beak and 3 legs, it was called "the Amabie". Amabie imparted the following wisdom: “If an epidemic occurs, draw a picture of me and show it to everyone,” Drawing Amabie and sharing my drawings on social media felt like a good way to spend my time while sheltering in place during this first year of the Ronapocalypse.
